CPRFC Newsletter 02/28/2024

Greetings from CP Rugby,
It has been quite an eventful couple of weeks as we hosted fifth-ranked Central Washington and then traveled up for a league game against Davis. This is all while we have had a revolving door of practice fields as the constant rains have thrown a wrench in our plans. However, you know what they say: “The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry.” Despite this, commitment has not wavered, and attendance and intensity are at an all-time high as we look forward to hosting St. Mary’s this weekend!

Last weekend at Talley Field, we hosted nationally ranked Central Washington in a bitter grudge match that came down to the 80th minute. After getting off to a slow start, we found ourselves down 6-22 at the half.` Central Washington was kicking with the wind and fully utilized this kicking to touch inside the five-meter line several times, resulting in several tries. However, we came into the second half fired up and stormed back to contention. In the 70th minute, we had the ball inside five meters, down two possessions, but got held up in their try zone. It was a tough way to lose, but CP Rugby fought hard until the 80th minute. The final score was 20-39.

We bounced back with a league win over Davis, with the A side winning 63-14 and the B-side bombers winning 79-5. We now look forward to this weekend with the banquet at 5 O’clock on Saturday at Trinity Hall Edna. We then host St. Marys on Sunday at Talley Fields, with the C-side playing at 11, the A-side at 12:30, and the B-side Bombers at 2.

Until Next Time,

CPRFC
