We are now in the heat of the winter season, but before I get to that I would like to include a quick synopsis of the fall season. We hosted the heralded men’s club OMBAC for a great hard fought game against our A-side. We then sent our B-side up to Chico state to compete for the Archibald cup. In an absolute thriller our B-side emerged victorious and brought home the Archibald cup. We also had several of our players compete for the Grizzlies, a conference all star team throughout the fall.

We started our winter season with a hard three days of training for our winter camp. We worked off the holiday LB’s while getting weeks worth of training in a few short days. The club would like to give a special shoutout to Kevin Battles of the U.S Eagles who was a guest coach for two sessions and provided invaluable advice for the forwards. We then were thrown straight into the fire by facing two top ten teams in the country in a week. We fell to Cal 32-7, however the score does not indicate how close the game was, as we went into half only down a try. The following week we hosted BYU and lost a tough game 26-12. We are now preparing for a trip down to SDSU for two games.

Until next time,

Cal Poly Rugby
